Job Opportunities

Project Marketing and Events Officer (f/t or 28 hours)

Wiltshire Museum is looking for a Project Marketing and Events Officer to join our team during the Delivery Phase of The National Lottery Heritage Fund supported Assizes for Devizes: Unlocking Wiltshire’s Stories  project.  Working closely with the Project and wider Museum team, the post-holder will develop and coordinate the marketing and communication strategy for the Project. The role will include organising and running of events and supporting wider initiatives across the Museum.

‘Assizes for Devizes: Unlocking Wiltshire’s Stories’ is an ambitious project to transform the internationally important Wiltshire Museum into a world class cultural destination at the heart of Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site landscape, by revitalising the much-loved derelict Devizes Assize Court as the Museum’s new home.

Delivery funding of £8.5 million has been awarded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund towards the £14.8 million needed to transform the Assize Court building into a spectacular new home for the Museum. The Delivery Phase of the project will begin in 2026, with construction likely to commence in 2027. We aim to open the new Museum in 2030.

We are looking for a creative individual who will help us during this exciting time to reach and engage with different audiences across a wide range of platforms.  A key strand of this role initially will be to successfully implement a communication strategy for the project, working across the Project and wider Museum team to ensure cohesive messaging across the board. As we begin to prepare for opening of the new site, the postholder will work with the team and consultants to shape the branding and marketing strategy for the new Museum.

The role requires excellent written and communication skills, ability to work in a small close-knit team, and demonstrable experience of working within a marketing role.

This post is for the duration of the project’s Delivery Phase supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which runs until March 2031.
